    DESCRIPTION
    The Graduate Certificate in Disaster Management is designed to enhance the knowledge base of public health professionals, as well as other disaster management personnel, in the management, preparedness, response, and recovery from natural and man-made disasters. The design of the certificate engages the student in critical thinking skills that enable them to reduce the health complexities of disasters. The certificate is also designed to increase the managerial and leadership skills of public health professionals working with large populations after a disaster (i.e., refugee and displaced populations).
     
    SPECIAL ENROLLMENT ISSUES
    The applicant must document that s/he has the graduate-level knowledge required to enroll in the certificate courses. In addition, the applicant must hold a bachelor抯 degree from a regionally accredited institution.

    TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
    Students enrolled in on line courses at USF must have an active USF e-mail account, a USF NetID, and reliable Internet access. You may check whether or not your browser is compatible with the software used for distance education at the distance education web site.

    A NetID, available to enrolled USF students allows students to access learning resources online, including the USF Library.     ACCESS TO FINANCIAL AID RESOURCES
    Financial aid opportunities can be discussed with your program advisor. Non-degree seeking students are not eligible for financial aid.     SPECIAL PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

    This graduate certificate does not require that you submit GRE scores with your application. You may apply any semester as a certificate-seeking student, however, the course sequence begins in the fall semester with two courses, the spring semester with two courses, and then ends in the summer semester with the field experience.

    ACCESS TO ADVISING/MENTORING SERVICES
    Students will have access to program staff for all pre-advising and advising issues. Students will be assigned to a faculty advisor towards the end of their program to collaborate on special project and field experience.

    Transfer credit: Courses may be accepted contingent upon departmental approval.
    Credit towards graduate degree: Up to 12 hours of certificate course credits may be applied to a graduate degree with departmental approval.
