    DESCRIPTION
The University of Alabama awards the degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) to undergraduate students who have successfully completed the academic requirements set forth by the Capstone College of Nursing. The College's planned program of studies requires a minimum of 129 semester hours of academic course work. Additional courses may be necessary for students to meet the University Core Curriculum requirements. Courses identified by the State of Alabama legislative mandate to facilitate articulation of transfer credit among public two year and four year institutions of higher education are incorporated into the first four semesters. This portion of the curriculum is referred to as the pre-professional component or lower division. The remaining four semesters of coursework represent the upper division portion of the curriculum and include nursing courses designed to prepare graduates for the professional practice of nursing within a changing health care arena.
