    DESCRIPTION
This program is designed to provide students with intensive studies in the Bible and allied studies to prepare them for Christian leadership positions throughout the world in the church as pulpit ministers, elders, deacons, missionaries, professional staff ministers, family and youth ministers, and Bible teachers. Also, this program of study will be equally valuable for individuals for careers and professions dedicated to providing support and services for the well-being of individuals, family and society.

Additionally, the Bachelor of Science in Ministry/Bible Degree is a precursor that provides students with the broad knowledge and intellectual skills required to pursue advanced degrees in religious studies such as the Master of Arts, Master of Science, Master of Divinity, and Doctor of Ministry. As SCU is a leader in Christian higher education in traditional classroom instruction and instruction delivered via distance learning, SCU students can continue their college education while continuing to serve in the church in their home community and work in their chosen profession.

These databases include abstracts and full texts of many sources. In addition to SCU's monograph collection which exceeds 70,000 volumes, there are over 275 subscriptions in either print form or through full-text databases, along with another one hundred subscriptions of general religious interest. Back files of these titles and others are also available, along with the proper indexes to facilitate their use.

The University Resource Center has protocol agreements with a number of institutions, allowing its students full or limited use of their facilities. These agreements allow its students to expand their research process through access to other collections.

The interlibrary loan program supplements local holdings. SCU is a member of the American Theological Users Group (ATUG), which allows access to the collections of 150 theological schools through an online database.

The University of Alabama in Huntsville has issued a letter of intent to SCU stating that it will provide Library and Research Services to Southern Christian University for its Distance Learning programs beginning the Fall 2001.

Students can request materials from SCU's library by calling 1-800-351-4040, ext. 120. Students are provided with a textbook and publishers list so that they can order their textbooks directly from the publishers, thereby avoiding any markups.
