    The Master of Public Administration with a concentration in emergency management is designed to meet professional development needs of individuals employed in or planning a career in emergency management. The program is available via the Internet. Average class size varies as the program continues to grow.
    An internship program of area, state, regional and national-level sites (paid and unpaid) was begun in Spring 2001. Inquire with the Institute for Emergency Preparedness for more information.
    Student must have computer with Internet and web capability, or access to these items. Must be able to read PowerPoint, MS Word, and Adobe (PDF) files (readers provided). Other software as specified within courses may be necessary.
    JSU's University Campus Bookstore supplies textbooks (new and used), study guides, clothing, gifts and supplies. Texts can be ordered by telephone and received by mail (256)782-5283 or 1-800-231-5291 (request the Bookstore). Textbook buy-back days are available. JSU's Houston Cole Library serves the needs of distance students and instructors with full Electronic Reference Desk services, where an Electronic Reference Librarian is available. Complete search facilities exist with multiple databases available via remote access (IP authentication). Librarians accept email questions and all areas of the library are available via email and the web from JSU's Home Page. A specialized section for distance education students exists within the Library web site
    JSU provides grants (Federal Pell, FSEOG, Alabama Student Assistance), campus employment, loans (Federal Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized, Federal Direct PLUS Loans), scholarships, Veteran's Affairs benefits, and other state (Alabama) programs of assistance.

    Most aid programs are based on individual need of the applicant, determined by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) which does not require a processing fee. Forms are available in January and may be obtained through the University or completed on-line. Application for financial aid must be made each academic year. Although March 15 is the preference deadline for most applications, JSU accepts applications throughout the academic year. VA Education benefits pay for classes toward the major and require completion of several forms. Contact JSU's Office of Veterans Affairs (256/782-5892) for further information. Most programs require at least half-time for eligibility. The JSU Financial Aid web site contains all information to apply for financial aid.
