DEFINITION: Under direction, to compound and dispense
pharmaceutical drugs and prescriptions; and, to do related work as
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: This is an entry-level class and is
distinguished from Pharmacist Supervising in that the latter is
responsible for planning and directing the work of a pharmacy and
for providing countywide pharmaceutical services.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Compounds, prepares, mixes, manufactures and
dispenses medicines and preparations for scientific and technical
use; prepares special and individual prescriptions; assists in the
custody and dispensing of narcotics, hypnotics, alcohol and poisons;
labels and prices stock and keeps stock in orderly arrangement.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: Possession of a valid certificate of
registration as a Pharmacist issued by the State of California.
