Equipment Service Worker
Salary: $15.01-$18.33 hourly / $2,611-$3,188 monthly / Range:
DEFINITION: Under general supervision, to lubricate and service
automobiles, trucks, tractors, and other motorized construction
equipment; and to perform related work as required.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: This class is distinguished from
Equipment Mechanic in that incumbents perform the more routine tasks
in the maintenance an servicing motorized equipment.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Checks motorized equipment as to the need for
fuel, oil, water, air and battery water and adds these as needed;
lubricates motorized equipment; changes oil and oil filters; changes
air filters; changes and repairs tires; makes minor repairs, such as
balancing wheels, changing spark plugs, replacing light bulbs and
windshield wipers; charges batteries; cleans and washes vehicles and
equipment; steam cleans motors and chassis; assists in cleaning shop
equipment; may keep logs of supplies used.
1. One year of experience in the servicing of motorized equipment;
2. a combination of training, education, and experience that is
equivalent to the employment standard listed above and that provides
the required knowledge and abilities.
Additional Requirements: Possession of a valid California Class C
Knowledge of: the simple mechanical parts and operation of motorized
equipment; the proper lubricants for a wide variety of equipment and
fittings; tire repair.
Ability to: drive heavy motorized equipment; follow oral and written
