Salary: $13.47-$16.44 hourly / $2,342-$2,859 monthly / Range: 4546

DEFINITION: Under general supervision, to keep assigned building interiors clean and orderly; to perform a variety of custodial and minor building maintenance duties as assigned; and to do related work as required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Sweeps, scrubs and mops floors; strips, waxes, buffs and seals floors; vacuums and shampoos rugs; washes, dusts and polishes furniture, woodwork and shelves; empties and cleans waste receptacles; cleans walls, fountains, windows, and restrooms; replenishes supplies; turns out lights and locks doors and windows; reports necessary repairs; cleans and maintains equipment and material used in work; may supervise inmates on custodial tasks; and may perform variety of building maintenance tasks including moving furniture and equipment, replacing lights and air filters, assembling shelving, performing minor repairs and other similar duties.


1. Six months experience in janitorial or light building maintenance; or,
2. combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the employment standard listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Knowledge of: the methods, materials and equipment used in janitorial and minor building maintenance work.

Ability to: perform variety of manual tasks; follow oral and written directions; plan and complete assigned duties on a regular schedule; closely supervise small crews; and maintain good working relationships with others.
