Boutique Consulting- Merchandising Consultant Job Description
KSA's Merchandising practice is seeking
qualified individuals with two to three years experience and an
interest in the retail and consumer goods industry. The
Merchandising practice helps retail and packaged goods clients
improve their businesses by:
Developing new business and operational
Designing optimized business processes.
Implementing information technology
Consultants will be part of a team focused on
delivering high-value services for our clients, and will develop
skills in the following key areas:
Merchandising Strategy: Involves working
with clients to create new businesses and extend existing product
lines by understanding overall business strategies that drive
superior results, and the key value levers required to achieve that
success. Includes learning the basics of product strategies,
assortment planning, micro merchandising, and category management.
Also included are integrated services such as supply chain
performance improvement, pricing strategies, revenue optimization,
competitive assessment, inventory effectiveness, and other advanced
Product Development Improvement:
Involves helping clients reduce the time needed to bring new
products to market, improve product acceptance rates, and structure
well-defined and effective processes to create new products.
Includes working to identify new markets/opportunities and improve
the effectiveness of new product introductions by leveraging
consumer insights and industry research.
Sourcing and Supply Chain Improvement:
Involves performing projects focused on finding the best sources for
product worldwide, and the most effective means for producing and
transporting product to the customer from around the globe.
Retail Operations: Involves working with
retailers on product presentation to customers in all channels,
including traditional stores, the Internet, and direct marketing.
Includes learning all aspects of customer marketing, operational
processes, and presentation techniques.
At least two to three years of experience in the retail or
consumer goods industry, and/or supply chain consulting experience
is required. Demonstrated leadership, strong analytical
capabilities, and exceptional drive are essential. Qualified
candidates will have an MBA or MS degree in an analytical
Location and Travel
Consultants in the Merchandising practice are located in our
Atlanta, GA or New York, NY offices. The nature of our business
requires travel to client locations, averaging two to three nights
per week away from home. On occasion, our engagements involve
full-time on-site consulting, requiring intermittent periods of five
days per week travel to the client site. Given the global nature of
our practice, international assignments are possible and would
require relocation or extended time on client site.
