Sample Thank You Note
Thank you letters are more important than you may think. It is a
great way to let employers know that you appreciated the time they took
to meet and interview you. Thank-you letters can also re-emphasize your
strengths and skills. State your interest in the job and highlight
elements of your background that seem relevant. Also, be sure to mention
factors that impressed you about the job, department or company. (Don't
forget to also follow-up with any additional information requested by
the interviewer!)

Dear Dr. Suess:
I want to thank you for the time you and your staff spent with me
yesterday to discuss the Research Technician III position in your
laboratory. I am very impressed with the research you are conducting on
green eggs and ham, particularly the genetic research. I believe that my
skills and interest in molecular genetics would be an asset to your
research. As we discussed, I worked for two years at N.C. State
University doing similar research on peanut butter and jelly under the
supervision of Dr.Yam and believe that experience would be helpful in
starting up a new program such as the one you had mentioned. This is the
kind of opportunity I have been looking for in the research field.
As requested, I have enclosed a copy of my transcript verifying my
coursework in molecular biology and organic chemistry. I also have some
letters of recommendation from prior employers if you should need more
information about my skills and experience.
Again, I want to thank you for the opportunity to talk to you in more
detail about the Research Technician III position. Please let me know if
you need any additional information. I look forward to hearing from you
soon.
Sincerely,
Bobby Miller
