Master of Sports Science in Sports Medicine
A student interested in pursuing a degree in Sports Medicine may be
accepted from a variety of backgrounds. Undergraduate majors with
backgrounds in allied health, sport medicine and the medical sciences
are most suitable. Generally, undergraduate majors in biology, physical
education, nursing, physical therapy or athletic training are most
suitable. Those with strong backgrounds in the natural sciences are
encouraged to apply. Program objectives prepare the student for the
prevention, management, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries with the
multiplicity of demands involved with the successful operation of sports
medicine programs at various levels. A successful student may receive
the United States Sports Academy's certification in Sports Medicine upon
graduation. The master's curriculum in sports medicine is 33 semester
hours and can be completed entirely online with the exception of coming
on campus to take the comprehensive examinations that are held in
conjunction with the Academy's graduation celebration. |
