DESCRIPTION
- The University of Alabama awards the degree of Bachelor of
Science in Nursing (BSN) to undergraduate students who have
successfully completed the academic requirements set forth by the
Capstone College of Nursing. The College's planned program of
studies requires a minimum of 129 semester hours of academic course
work. Additional courses may be necessary for students to meet the
University Core Curriculum requirements. Courses identified by the
State of Alabama legislative mandate to facilitate articulation of
transfer credit among public two year and four year institutions of
higher education are incorporated into the first four semesters.
This portion of the curriculum is referred to as the
pre-professional component or lower division. The remaining four
semesters of coursework represent the upper division portion of the
curriculum and include nursing courses designed to prepare graduates
for the professional practice of nursing within a changing health
care arena.
