DESCRIPTION
- This 54-hour online graduate program prepares rehabilitation
counseling professionals who will provide direct services and
resources coordination for individuals with a disability seeking
re-entry in the labor market.
The program is offered in an eighteen-month sequence through
at-a-distance, web-based courses. Students will be admitted to
full-time or part-time study. A primary objective of the program is
to permit graduates to qualify for national certification as
rehabilitation counselors (CRC).
The curriculum has four components:
� rehabilitation
� counseling
� foundations/electives
� field work/application
Fieldwork requires a minimum of 700 hours of supervised practice in
a rehabilitation setting under the supervision of a Certified
Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). Practicum and Internship can be
arranged at distant sites for students. All courses in the
curriculum, except the fieldwork, are available online.
SPECIAL ENROLLMENT ISSUES
- Credit may be given for professional rehabilitation counseling
work and/or for previous coursework or degrees. The program is
dedicated to being accessible to all students, regardless of
disability, and accommodations are available for persons with a wide
variety of disabilities.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
- A PC Computer with a Pentium processor and at least 32 MB of RAM
(64MB of RAM if using Microsoft Office 2000) with multimedia
capabilities including speakers and sound card, and a DSL, Cable, or
T1 Internet connection or, at least, a 56K modem is required. All
course-specific software is available free and can be downloaded

ACCESS TO LEARNING RESOURCES
- The campus library is accessible online - offering a complete
line of services for the distance learning student. The UALR library
has a rehabilitation resource site developed specifically for this
program. Specific handout materials are posted at the class web
site. Internet resources and inter-library loans are used to provide
free or low-cost access to research materials. Textbooks can be
purchased online or ordered from a distance through the UALR campus
bookstore. Students enrolled in UALR's Distance Education Classes or
Off-Campus Programs, and those who access Ottenheimer Library's
services remotely from home or at work have access to a variety of
online resources and library services. Library access and use is
considered essential to success at UALR and is encouraged from all
