DESCRIPTION
- The Master of Science in Human Resources Management (MSHRM) is a
professional designed to offer graduates of diversified
undergraduate programs an opportunity to obtain a proficiency in
human resources management skills. The MSHRM is an online
interactive degree program available to students throughout the
world.
This degree program stresses fundamental problem-solving, technical,
and decision-making skills, communication and interpersonal
competencies, and knowledge critical for success in today's, and
tomorrow's, entrepreneurial and business organizations.
All graduates from the HRM program will complete a seven course core
in Research Techniques, Legal Environment of HRM, Staffing, Advanced
Concepts and Topics in Management, Training and Development,
Strategic Human Resources Management, and Compensation and Benefits
Management, and three additional courses suitable to the individual
student抯 academic and employment background and specific career
objectives. The program will thus provide students the opportunity
to gain an understanding of the subject matter that will enhance
their career opportunities. Total requirements: 30 SH (10 courses)
This Degree program is an non-research-oriented professional master抯
degree program that requires an understanding of the accepted
professional practices in the field of human resources management.
SPECIAL ENROLLMENT ISSUES
- The student will be examined on the content of the core courses
with a comprehensive examination. Students will have also completed
all other graduation requirements as listed in the Graduate
Bulletin.
Candidates for admission must have a baccalaureate degree in any
subject area from a regionally accredited college or university.
There are no prerequisite requirements.
All graduate students are expected to have a working knowledge of,
and access to, a basic word processing program, and Internet
electronic mail services. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and
Internet facilities such as the World Wide Web is also highly
recommended. Internet Information Services may be necessary to
conduct appropriate research for some courses.
Faculty will provide direction for independent learning and will be
available online for assistance when needed. Students will 損ull� the
information needed from the resources given in each lesson � it will
not be 損ushed� at the learner. The student taking an online course
must be highly motivated and self-disciplined. Distance learners
must be able to read and follow instructions, and to solve problems
independently. Although independent learning is emphasized, teamwork
in problem solving and idea sharing is essential to success and is
included as a skill in preparing for learning at a distance.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Troy State University抯 online courses require that the student
have access to a PC with Windows 3.1, 95, or 98 operating system, or
a Macintosh OS7 or higher; connection to the Internet, and an
individual e-mail account; Internet Explorer or Netscape browser,
version 4.0 or higher; Microsoft Word or WordPerfect word processing
