DESCRIPTION
- This program is designed to prepare and educate the student for
a career in emergency and disaster management in the public sector
(including local, state, or federal government), private sector, and
disaster relief organizations both within the US and abroad.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Access to computer is needed. Requirements include: Internet
connection, e-mail access, required software - Netscape
Communicator/Navigator 4.0 or higher OR Microsoft Internet Explorer
6.0 or higher (or equivalent web browser), suggested software -
Microsoft Office 2000 or higher, Adobe Acrobat Reader, minimum 28.8
KB modem; 56 KB modem recommended, monitor capable of at least
800x600 resolution.
ACCESS TO LEARNING RESOURCES
- JSU's University Campus Bookstore supplies textbooks (new and
used), study guides, clothing, gifts and supplies. Texts can be
ordered by telephone and received by mail (256)782-5283 or
1-800-231-5291 (request the Bookstore). Textbook buy-back days are
available. JSU's Houston Cole Library serves the needs of distance
students and instructors with full Electronic Reference Desk
services, where an Electronic Reference Librarian is available.
Complete search facilities exist with multiple databases available
via remote access (IP authentication). Librarians accept email
questions and all areas of the library are available via email and
the web from JSU's Home Page. A specialized section for distance
education students exists within the Library web site
ACCESS TO FINANCIAL AID RESOURCES
- Students are responsible for submitting application forms for
financial aid. Forms and more information may be found online.
Financial aid in the form of loans, grants, and scholarships may be
available to all students who meet qualifications.
