This competency-based program is designed to prepare those seeking advanced knowledge and skills for leadership and managerial opportunities in human resource development enterprises. Applicants from the public and private economic sectors will find this program appealing in terms of quality and convenience.

The Master of Science in Adult Education with a concentration in Human Resource Development may be completed at a distance through our online learning program. The program is designed for the part-time student taking two classes per semester and will take about two years to complete. All courses are delivered over the internet and require regular access to a computer.

To participate in FSU's online programs, you need access to certain technologies. To minimize technical problems you may experience, FSU provides online technical support.
To be successful in your online class, you must have:
Regular access to a computer
An Internet connection (ISP or Internet Service Provider)
An Internet browser
An FSU/ACNS computer account, which includes your login/username, password, and email account

If you plan to use computer equipment that you do not own for participation in the program, be certain that you have permission to use the equipment for course work purposes. You must also be sure that you have permission to save data to the local hard drive.

Online students at FSU can find support for every aspect of the University experience. Your computer and an Internet connection link you to the most comprehensive electronic campus in higher education. The FSU library may be reached at el: 850-644-2706. Currently enrolled students who are located 50 miles or more from Tallahassee can request materials to be sent to them. Some of your online courses may require you to purchase a Course Packet, which could include a study guide, textbooks, and/or media (video, audiotapes, CD-ROMs). Information about what, if any, course materials are required for your courses can be found through: Campus bookstores (FSU Bookstore and Bill抯 Bookstore), Departmental web sites, Course instructors, Academic Coordinators. Course materials can be ordered online and will be shipped directly to you. (You pay the cost of the course materials, plus shipping. The FSU bookstore can be reached at 1-800-255-3781. A mentor or teaching assistant is available online (and often by phone) to help clarify course materials and refer you to resources for all other aspects of the university experience. Distance students enrolled in at least 6 semester hours have access to many of the same types of financial aid as residential students. If you need financial aid to help defray the costs of your education, begin to investigate the aid you may be eligible for as soon as possible. If your online course has been assigned a mentor, your mentor will contact you via email just prior to the beginning of classes. You most likely will have a different mentor for each online class. You should ask your mentor course-specific or general questions whenever you want more information or clarification. Your mentor will support your progress through the course by: Clarifying course content Giving feedback Contacting you regularly about your progress and concerns Mentors are carefully selected by the instructor, trained in student support skills, supervised during the facilitation of the course, and are evaluated at the end of each course. Mentors may be a professional in the field, a community college faculty member, or an advanced graduate student at FSU.

We can accept up to six (6) hours from an accredited university, provided they are no more than seven (7) years old and you received a grade of "B" or higher. If courses previously counted toward a degree, they cannot be transferred. Professional designation courses do not transfer for credit.

The program consists of 14 courses, with two offered each term. All courses are delivered completely online.

The time periods we use will not necessarily coincide with Florida State University's normal semesters. We have a limited amount of flexibility in scheduling the courses.
