DESCRIPTION
- Human resource development (HRD) is one of the fastest growing
areas of professional endeavor in education and human service
practice. It has been spurred by technological advances,
organizational and social conditions and demographic changes.
Overall, HRD encompasses education and training, organization
development and career development activities within or related to
the workplace. Professionals perform such roles as administrator/
manager, program designer, instructor/trainer and consultant.
Florida State University has recognized that such a diverse field of
professional practice requires diverse opportunities for individual
growth and development. Consequently, a multi-disciplinary approach
was used to identify academic courses that relate most directly to
the functions, roles and competencies required of HRD practitioners.
These courses can be taken as part of a regular graduate program of
studies, or through enrollment as a part-time non-degree special
student. Individual course may be taken, or a sequence of courses
may be pursued, that lead to the Certificate in Human Resource
Development.
This program is provided by the Florida State University College of
Education, through the Department of Educational Leadership and
Policy Studies. This program enables individuals who cannot set
aside job and family responsibilities for full-time collegiate study
to gain an educational background in the human resource development
field through part-time evening coursework. The certificate in Human
Resource Development is designed for both practicing HRD/Training
and Development professionals and those who aspire to enter
HRD/Training and Development practice in some capacity.
SPECIAL ENROLLMENT ISSUES

have an earned undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited
