DESCRIPTION
- The Auburn MBA Program focus is on the core analytical and
communication skills that best prepare students from any background
for positions of leadership in public and private enterprise.
The Auburn MBA Program incorporates a mix of theory, practical
applications and supplements with a strong emphasis on team and
group activities. The curriculum has staying power; it reflects the
broad, fundamental knowledge upon which graduates can build
successful careers, while allowing students to specialize and
develop further expertise in a particular area of interest.
Students may choose their elective courses to earn a concentration
in a variety of functional areas which can include finance,
management information systems, human resource management,
marketing, operations management, and management of technology.
However, concentrations are not required and are not noted on the
diploma.
SPECIAL ENROLLMENT ISSUES
- Applications are accepted for fall semester entry (deadline
March 1st) and spring semester (deadline September 1st).
The Auburn Distance Learning MBA Program "mirrors" completely the
On-Campus Full-Time MBA Program and there is no distinction made on
the Diploma awarded upon degree completion and graduation. Distance
students are expected to complete the same course assignments,
cases, projects, and exams as on-campus students and maintain the
same [although time-delayed] pace as on-campus students. The
significant difference is a 7-10 day delay/turnaround time due to
mailing and shipping from campus to the student. Outside assignments
and proctored exams must be completed within the 7-10 day timeframe
as set by the instructor.
Live classes are recorded in digital video formats and the DVDs
and/or videotapes are mailed daily to students. Internet streaming
is currently being tested and is expected to be offered for all
courses before the end of the 2004 academic year.
Faculty establish telephone hours so off-campus students can call
with additional questions and issues related to course content.
Faculty are always available via email to address and respond to
needs of the student.
Admission is limited to 40 new students twice per year. The program
currently has over 275 students.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Students are expected have Internet access, e-mail, and DVD or
VHS-VCR. A late model Pentium computer with Microsoft Windows
operating system and Microsoft Office software would meet minimum
computer system requirements.
ACCESS TO LEARNING RESOURCES
- Accessibility to all on-campus activities, library, etc., is
provided to off-campus students. (An AU Student ID is required to
check out resources.) As an Auburn student you are also eligible for
athletic tickets at on-campus student prices. Please check with the
Graduate Outreach office for instructions on these resources at
888-844-5300 and the timing of pre-ordering such athletic event
tickets.
ACCESS TO FINANCIAL AID RESOURCES
- Contact the Auburn University Financial Aid Office for
information on student loans and other financial aid at email:
finaid7@auburn.edu; telephone: 334-844-4367.
