Award may be used at:
- Any postsecondary institution
- Vocational/technical school
- Two-year college
- Four-year college
Accreditation:
- School must be accredited

Applicant must demonstrate:
- Academic achievement
- Financial need
- Leadership
- Proof of eligibility
- Service to others
Other application requirements:
- Statement of goals and aspirations, official letter from
deceased employee's place of work certifying employee died in
line of duty
Additional information:
- High school seniors and graduates, as well as current
undergraduate or graduate students eligible
- Must be dependent child or spouse of deceased public
employees who have died in the line of duty
- Awards available in following categories: fire and rescue,
law enforcement, and general public employees
- Work experience, goals and aspirations, and unusual personal
or family circumstances also factored into selection
- Applications must be postmarked no later than March 31 each
year
- Award amount varies; maximum is $10,000 (tuition and fees
only)
