Temple University, one of the nation's largest centers of teaching,
research and scholarship, is located in historic Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania. A member of the Commonwealth System of Higher
Education, Temple enrolls 33,347 full-time students and part-time
students at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels in
14 schools and colleges.
The university offers bachelor's degrees in 90 areas, master's
degrees in 88 fields, and doctoral and professional degrees in 70
areas.Temple is truly an international institution of higher
learning, with five campuses in the Philadelphia area, including a
Health Sciences Center, and overseas campuses in Tokyo, Japan and
Rome, Italy .The university is known for the diversity of its
students, faculty, and staff. For fall 1991, Latino student
enrollment was 819, or 2.6%-- up 62% since Fall 1982. At Temple, a
Latino Initiative Committee, convened last year by the University
Provost, will be making recommendations to increase Latino
enrollment at the undergraduate levels.
At the postgraduate level, Temple's Future Faculty Fellows
Program has become a national model for recruiting and supporting
able minority graduate students who will take professional positions
in the academy.The university offers five residence halls, housing
3,200 students, and another 525-bed facility is under construction.
On-campus family housing is available for graduate students.
