The Claremont Graduate School, an independent, highly selective
institution dedicated exclusively to graduate study, awards degrees
in 15 disciplines. The second-oldest member of the six-campus
Claremont Colleges consortium, CGS combines "human scale"
instruction with the facilities and academic breadth of a
medium-sized university.
CGS offers courses of instruction in art, botany, economics,
education, English, history, information science, management and
executive management, mathematics, music, philosophy, politics and
policy, psychology, and religion. Master's degrees are awarded in
all programs, and doctorates in all except art. Scheduling of
coursework is flexible, and many dual-degree options are available.
With a total enrollment of just 1750 (990 full-time), CGS
provides strong academic support for its students through its
superior, accomplished faculty.
Further, as a member of the Claremont consortium, many student
services normally only associated with large universities--such as
psychological counseling, minority student counseling centers, and a
1.8 million volume library system--are available.
Minorities make up 19% of the students at CGS, and Hispanics
account for 6% of the total.
Located in a small-town environment in the foothills of the San
Gabriel Mountains within the megalopolis of Los Angeles. The
