Arizona State University is located near the heart of metropolitan
Phoenix in one of the Valley of the Sun's most pleasant
municipalities.This rapidly growing, multi-campus public research
university offers programs from the baccalaureate through the
doctorate for approximately 40,000 full-time and part-time students
through its main campus in Tempe, the ASU West campus in northwest
Phoenix, the Downtown Center, and other instructional sites
throughout Maricopa County.
Among ASU's Colleges are: Architecture and Environmental Design,
Business Education, Engineering and Applied Sciences, Fine Arts,
Law, Liberal Arts and Sciences, Nursing, Public Programs, and Social
Work. Students can select from a wide variety of majors leading to
master's degrees in more than 90 programs and doctoral or terminal
degrees in 50 programs including the juries doctor of law.
Research centers, institutes, and laboratories offer graduate
students special opportunities to advance their professional
training through assistantships in teaching or research under the
guidance of leading professors. Some of ASU's research centers
include: Center for Environmental Studies, Exercise and Sports
Research Center, Hispanic Research Center, Center for Meteorite
Studies, Aerospace Research Center, Center for Energy Systems
Research, Center for Bilingual/Bicultural Research, Center for
Indian Education, Center for Business Research, and many others. In
addition, graduate students have access to one of the best
university library systems in the nation, high-tech computing
facilities, and microcomputer labs.
Minorities comprise 15% of the student population, with Hispanics
accounting for 7%.
Male, female and coed dorms are available, as are university
owned/operated apartments. Off-campus housing is readily available.
