on a 24-hour basis.
Your DAT application will arrive with a packet of "Dental Admission
Test Preparation Materials," including a full sample DAT exam.
Test Dates - Generally, the ideal time to take the DAT
is in the spring of your junior year. By then, you should have
sufficient background to handle the material and will be able to
submit an early application in the summer. A spring test date
also allows you to retake the DAT the following October, if
necessary. However, it should be noted, some dental schools
prefer or require specific DAT test sessions. You may take the
DAT a maximum of four times.
How to Apply, Fees - An application for the DAT, as well
as the information pamphlet, can be obtained form: Division of
Educational Measurements Council on Dental Education, American
Dental Association, 211 East Chicago Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611
The application and a photograph must be returned by the
specified deadline date along with the examination fee. This fee
covers the submission of official test scores to five dental
schools, a personal copy and a copy for your pre-dental advisor. The
advisor copy is sent only with your consent, but it is strongly
suggested due to its usefulness in the advising process. Additional
official transcripts of scores are $1.00, if requested at the time
of the application, and S2-00 if requested later. Please note that
dental schools participating in AADSAS (the centralized application
service) require scores to be sent directly from the DAT program.
