Crunching the Numbers: Law School and Beyond
Minnesota has four law schools, one public and three private. For
the 2004-05 academic year, the University of Minnesota will cost
$17,059 for resident tuition, plus another $2,652 in required fees,
for a total of $19,711. (Non-resident tuition is a whopping
$27,443!) William Mitchell College of Law will charge $25,950.
Hamline will cost $25,246, and the new University of St. Thomas
School of Law will charge $25,404. Note that these are TUITION ONLY
numbers, and do not include living expenses in the Twin Cities,
currently estimated to be approximately $14,200 for the school year.
Given these numbers, you are probably wondering how in the world
anyone can afford to go to law school. Good question. Here are some
