The UC Davis MBA prepares you for a range of career opportunities
and cultivates your ability to deal successfully with the challenges
of a continually changing, increasingly competitive global business
environment. You can focus your MBA studies on one or two specific
areas of business and management or you can adopt a more general
approach to your academic pursuits. Through the core and breadth
courses, you build the same foundation of knowledge and skills as
your classmates. You can then pursue a concentration in a business
function, such as finance, information technology, or marketing.
Through a series of courses and other experiences outside the
classroom, you develop expertise and apply it to real-world
situations. Some students may choose to specialize further in a
particular field, such as the real estate, healthcare, or
non-profits sectors. Specialized courses, independent studies and
field practicums hone your knowledge in a particular field and
prepare you for the next stage of your career. Finally, elective
courses in Leadership, Negotiations, and Innovation round out your
MBA education and enhance your lifelong career success. Finally, we
have formal joint degree programs with agricultural economics,
engineering, law, and medicine or you can initiate your own ad hoc
joint degree with permission of both departments. You take six core
courses and three breadth courses to prepare you for in-depth study.
Your fifteen elective courses allow you to focus on the areas that
best prepare you for your career, including coursework in other UC
Davis departments. To earn the Master of Business Administration
degree, you must successfully complete 72 units (24 courses) with a
cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.
