Steps in MBA Resume Writing
Spend some time thinking about your accomplishments
Make a list of key accomplishments from school, work,
extracurricular activities, volunteer projects, hobbies, travel, and
other major life experiences. Ask yourself the following questions:
- What are you most proud of? What characteristics did your
employers most value in your performance?
- What projects best exhibited leadership, teamwork, management,
and initiative?
- Were you promoted early? Were you ever the youngest to achieve
something? Were you ever elected/selected to serve in a leadership
position or on a committee?
- Have you ever saved your employer money? How?
Document your work history
Document your work history - list all tasks for which you had
responsibility. Keep these notes, as they are helpful in preparing
for interviews. They will also help you compile relevant facts for
your resume, as well as for one-on-one conversations with the Career
Management Center.
Reword each accomplishment by determining the action and the
result.
