The AACSB International
accredited NAU MBA is designed to impact the short and long-term
careers of graduates. The NAU MBA program approaches graduate
business education as an integrated whole. Since students are
typically taught to think and act within functional silos, a
different way of thinking is required when approaching business
problems on a cross-functional and integrated basis. Intense, team
based, and personalized. These are just a few ways students describe
their NAU MBA experience. Who said MBA programs had to last two
years? The two-year format is easy to implement because business
schools are oriented into functional silos which reinforces
old-fashioned functional thinking. The NAU MBA program implemented
an integrated and team-taught approach well before there was an
outcry for such a program. We teach students to identify, analyze,
and solve problems with an enterprise-wide perspective versus the
functional silo perspective found in typical MBA programs. Working
within a silo-free framework enables holistic problem solving, a
skill successful business professionals utilize throughout the life
of their career. Small Size, Big Benefits Our size and ability to
provide students with an exceptional personalized experience sets us
apart from other programs. The personalized experience is equal to
or better than what can be found in a private school, but at a more
affordable public institution price. In 2004-2005, there were two
students for every faculty member teaching in the core MBA program
and ten students for every MBA administrator. We make it our
business to know our students and their aspirations. Class sizes are
small, they’re discussion based, and intense—but most importantly,
NAU MBAs don’t get lost in the crowd. Our culture is based on mutual
respect, support, and success and our admissions process is geared
towards uncovering applicants that will thrive in this setting.
